I just can't stop posting. But why am I always the last to hear of these women? I mean, they haven't hit it big here yet so I don't feel like a total recluse, but apparently they broke out on the net before August this year?
Anyway, Soko needs to release an album. She has just the right amount of humour, earnestness, quirkiness, sweetness, and 'tude to make it not as twee as it seems. Plus, she sings I'll keeel her in her adorable Frenchie accent. Aww.
Also, Florence and the Machine doesn't have many songs to her/their catalog yet, but Kiss with a Fist is a statement and a half. Combined with Hospital Beds and Girl with 1 eye, I think Florence Welch is up to something something. That girl has just the perfect vocal for, well, pretty much anything. On Girl with 1 eye, she even channels my favourite current female vocalist Chan Marshall at times. If the handful of songs available for listening are of any indication (Bird Song is really too incredible for words), the forth coming album is going to be blasterific.
